Senator Armstrong Endorses Smucker
Retiring Senator Gib Armstrong today made his choice for State Senator known and it was Lloyd Smucker.
Senator Armstrong chose to endorse Smucker based on his record of fiscal discipline, commitment to our shared Republican principles, and the fact that only Lloyd has both real-world experience as a businessman and as a proven local elected official who never raised property taxes.
Said Senator Armstrong, "I have been honored to serve as the State Senator for the people of the 13th District. Now, as I retire, I want you to know that I care deeply about the future of Lancaster and York Counties. That's why who we choose for State Senator on Tuesday, April 22, is so important. After much thought and comparing the candidates, I believe Lloyd Smucker is the best choice. That's why I've decided to support him and urge you to join me when you go into the voting booth."
Local residents had been awaiting some indication from Senator Armstrong who he would support to follow his service in the Senate as they make their decisions on whom to support, so today's announcement was important news for the Smucker campaign.
"I am humbled to have the support and endorsement of Senator Armstrong and will work hard to carry on the tradition of honorable public service he has become known for, especially when it comes to helping real people solve real problems," said Smucker. "I hope that the Senator's endorsement is an indication to the voters that the negative attacks launched against me by my opponents are nothing more than political desperation."
